Streamlined Bitcoin accounting with Bitwave

First blockchain, decentralized, secure, and proof-of-work-based

Why connect Bitcoin to Bitwave ?

Whole wallets, not single addresses

Bitwave accepts a Bitcoin wallet's extended public key as well as single addresses, so a wallet that generates a new address for each receipt is tracked as one wallet rather than dozens of entries.

Bitcoin transactions made readable

Bitwave turns Bitcoin's raw inputs and outputs into deposits, withdrawals, and fees for your addresses, so your team categorizes plain transactions instead of untangling how Bitcoin moves value.

Balances checked against the chain

Bitcoin balances are tracked per wallet in Bitwave and can be compared with the chain at a chosen date using the balance report, supporting period-end validation of BTC holdings.

How it works

Bitwave tracks Bitcoin addresses you import. Once you import either an address or the wallet's extended public key, Bitwave finds the wallet's addresses, brings in their transaction history, and tracks balance changes per wallet.

Transactions appear as deposits, withdrawals, and fees, ready for categorization and inclusion in balance, gain and loss, and journal entry reporting.

The workflow:

  1. Import your Bitcoin wallet address or extended public key into Bitwave.
  2. Bitwave brings in the wallet's transactions as deposits, withdrawals, and fees.
  3. Categorize the activity, one by one or with rules.
  4. Review balances and carry the results into your reports and general ledger.

Key Benefits

What makes the Bitwave integration with Bitcoin special ?

Bitcoin is often the largest single position on a digital asset balance sheet, and the way Bitcoin records transactions makes the raw data awkward for accounting. Bitwave turns it into deposits, withdrawals, and fees per wallet and supports extended public keys so multi-address wallets are tracked as one unit.

For the finance team, BTC transfers arrive ready for cost basis and gain and loss treatment, network fees are booked as expense, and balances can be checked against the chain at period end, so Bitcoin holdings are reconciled with the same process as your other assets.
