Streamlined Bitfinex accounting with Bitwave

Crypto exchange offering margin trading and liquidity services.

Why connect Bitfinex to Bitwave ?

Trades and movements from the ledger

Bitwave reads Bitfinex trades and completed deposits and withdrawals, using the exchange's own activity categories to classify them, so each movement arrives in Bitwave with the right type.

Credentials validated before the first import

When you add a Bitfinex credential, Bitwave validates it and takes a snapshot of recent transactions and balances, so a credential with missing permissions is caught at setup rather than after a silent empty import.

Balance check built into each update

Bitwave pulls Bitfinex wallet balances and runs a balance check as part of each update, giving your team an early signal when imported transactions and exchange balances diverge.

How it works

Bitwave connects to Bitfinex with a read-only access credential you create on the Bitfinex API page. Bitwave recommends limiting it to reading account history and wallets; it does not need order, margin, or withdrawal rights.

After the credential is added, Bitwave validates it, then brings trades, deposits, withdrawals, and balances into the subledger for categorization and reconciliation.

The workflow:

  1. Create a read-only access credential in Bitfinex and add it in Bitwave.
  2. Bitwave validates the credential and brings in trades, deposits, withdrawals, and balances.
  3. Apply categories and contacts to the imported activity, using rules for recurring items.
  4. Reconcile the categorized activity and record it through your general ledger connection.

Key Benefits

What makes the Bitwave integration with Bitfinex special ?

Exchange accounts are a common source of unexplained variances at close, usually because a credential lacked permissions or a pair was missed. Bitwave's Bitfinex connection validates the credential up front and pairs transaction import with a balance check so problems surface early.

For the finance team, that means Bitfinex trades and funding movements arrive classified and ready for cost basis and gain and loss, while balance checks provide evidence that the subledger agrees with the exchange, supporting month-end reconciliation of exchange holdings.
