Streamlined Coinbase Retail accounting with Bitwave

Consumer-focused platform for buying, selling, and storing crypto.

Why connect Coinbase Retail to Bitwave ?

Coinbase.com and Business accounts covered

The Coinbase Retail connection is the path for Coinbase.com and Coinbase Business accounts, reading each currency account under your credential and bringing its transactions into Bitwave.

Transactions imported per currency account

Bitwave reads the transaction history of each currency account in the Coinbase profile, so buys, sells, sends, receives, and rewards arrive in the subledger ready to be categorized.

Balances captured for validation

Bitwave records account balances before and after each update, giving your team a reference to compare with the balances derived from imported transactions during period-end review.

How it works

Bitwave connects to Coinbase Retail with an access credential you create in your Coinbase developer settings, choosing the portfolio and permissions it covers. Bitwave recommends view permissions; it cannot move funds.

After the credential is added, Bitwave brings the accounts and their transaction history into the subledger. Unused Coinbase currency accounts can be hidden on request.

The workflow:

  1. Create a Coinbase access credential and add it in Bitwave.
  2. Bitwave brings in your Coinbase currency accounts, transactions, and balances.
  3. Categorize the synced activity, building rules for recurring patterns.
  4. Reconcile, then report gains, losses, and fees through your general ledger connection.

Key Benefits

What makes the Bitwave integration with Coinbase Retail special ?

Many organizations hold digital assets in a standard Coinbase account rather than an institutional product, and that activity still has to be booked with cost basis and gains. Bitwave's Coinbase Retail connection brings those accounts into the same subledger as exchange, custody, and on-chain activity.

For the finance team, buys, sells, transfers, and rewards from Coinbase.com or Coinbase Business are categorized in one place, balances are captured for validation, and the results carry into gain and loss reporting and the general ledger, so a Coinbase account is closed with the same process as the rest of the portfolio.
