Streamlined Xero accounting with Bitwave

Online accounting software for small businesses and bookkeeping.

Why connect Xero to Bitwave ?

Categories and contacts from Xero

Bitwave syncs your Xero chart of accounts as categories and your customers and suppliers as contacts, with a manual sync available from the Connections page whenever you add accounts in Xero.

Reconciled activity posts to Xero

Reconciling a categorized transaction in Bitwave records it as a bank transaction in the Xero account you designated for digital assets, with the Bitwave transaction ID carried as the reference for tracing.

Invoices and bills settled in digital assets

Xero invoices and bills sync into Bitwave as customer invoices and vendor bills, so a digital asset receipt or payment can be applied to them and the foreign exchange difference posted against receivables or payables.

How it works

Bitwave connects to Xero through Xero's own sign-in, where you choose the organization to connect and allow access. Bitwave does not receive your Xero password.

Once connected, you enter the account code for your digital asset holding account and a fee account code, then run the first sync to bring your chart of accounts, contacts, invoices, and bills into Bitwave.

The workflow:

  1. Authorize Bitwave in Xero and select the organization.
  2. Enter the digital asset account code and fee account code, then sync.
  3. Categorize transactions in Bitwave using Xero categories and contacts.
  4. Reconcile categorized transactions to record them as bank transactions in Xero.
  5. Verify the entries in the Xero bank account, where the reference matches the Bitwave transaction ID.

Key Benefits

What makes the Bitwave integration with Xero special ?

Xero holds your general ledger, while the detail that digital assets require, such as cost basis, gains and losses, and balances per wallet, lives in the Bitwave subledger. The connection keeps the two aligned without re-keying, because the accounts and contacts you categorize against in Bitwave are the ones already defined in Xero.

For finance teams closing in Xero, the practical result is that digital asset receipts, payments, fees, and transfers appear as bank transactions in a dedicated Xero account with a traceable reference back to Bitwave. Invoice and bill matching extends the same flow to receivables and payables, so period-end review happens in Xero against records that Bitwave has already categorized and reconciled.
